About Academion

Welcome to Academion, the network for private investors who are interested in scientific companies and research. On this website you can find information on the membership of Academion, the agenda of our activities and the propositions that are presented by our partner universities. Members of Academion gain access to dinners at beautiful university locations around the Netherlands. The propositions are research projects, social ventures and commercial start-ups.

History

During several meetings, organised by ScienceWorks in Oxford, Cambridge (UK) and Austin (USA), the importance of well organised investor networks that hug closely to these universities became abundantly clear. Such networks are not only financially attractive to investors; they also stimulate the creativity inside the universities. Creativity that leads to new companies, exciting research, attractive products and services in the region. Academion aims to create such a dynamic in the Netherlands as well.

Various universities have committed themselves to partner with Academion. A list of the first participating universities can be found here. More knowledge institutions are expected to follow in 2017. Furthermore, specialized lawyers and solicitors (notaries) support Academion and the universities in the process of connecting propositions to investors.
